An expert in gaming, Dawn Clayton has been involved in the casino world since she took a job as a craps dealer in Atlantic City right after high school. More than three decades later, she has grown and progressed to be the general manager of Thunder Valley Casino Resort, a 4-diamond destination resort located in Northern California. In her role, Ms. Clayton is responsible for overseeing the entire property and all operations, including 2,500 team members.

Ms. Clayton was inspired on her professional journey by her mother, who always pushed her to work harder. She did not come from the best financial means, but her mother taught her to not let that hold her back and it didn’t. As a testament to her success, Ms. Clayton won the Rockland Chamber of Commerce Award in 2013, and was published in the newspaper under Women Who Mean Business. There were originally 150 nominees selected, which was then narrowed down to the top 15. Ms. Clayton is also an honored member of The International Women’s Leadership Association. She attributes her achievements to her approachability, thirst for learning, and her team members.

Dr. Andert eventually decided to turn her talents to education, however, and has been serving Florida Gulf Coast University for more than a decade now. She currently teaches management courses at the university’s College of Business, and researches leadership and corporate governance.

Carol Glass

For the past 13 years, Carol Glass has operated a nonprofit organization called Glass House Inc. Her mission is to provide transitional housing for homeless people, sex offenders, and those in recovery so that they can integrate stability and structure back into their lives. Ms. Glass and those at Glass House operate under two programs; individual treatment and family treatment, which work to acclimate clients back into society and help them obtain networking opportunities, credit-building services, and home ownership. She is proud to say that Glass House has prevented 15 children from entering the system thus far, and served 65 people in 2015.

The trailer repair and maintenance company provides snow plows, snow pushers, salt and sand spreaders, lift gates, wiring, welding, mounts for vehicles, and custom fabrication, and was started four decades ago by her husband. He built a stellar reputation over the years, which she has maintained since he passed away.
