After 26 years of service, Christine Howland retired from the U.S. Army and was looking for a career change. She saw that becoming a real estate investor was a financially-beneficial choice, so she attended some seminars and decided to get involved. Ms. Howland proceeded to start her own company, Howlin Properties, LLC, and is working toward financial independence. She attributes her success thus far to her perseverance and persistence.

In addition to her career in the real estate sector, Ms. Howland currently serves as a deputy sheriff in Colorado. She has also had the opportunity to mentor and help others, which she considers to be her greatest achievement. Although respect to women in her male-dominated fields is sometimes lacking, Ms. Howland’s hard-headed nature inspires her to never quit, and her attention to detail help her thrive. She hopes to be remembered for being an honest, caring person.

Carrie L. Almond

In January 2016, Ms. Carrie Almond took her place in office as the president of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW), which is the largest grassroots political organization in the United States. Its focus is on empowering women and providing a forum for them to serve as leaders in the political, government, and civic arenas. Ms. Almond is also an executive vice president of Citizens Bank and Trust.

She has been a member of the NFRW for 14 years, and is very proud to have been elected the president at the 38th Biennial Convention. Her success is due to her strong communication skills, which, in return, help her to be a strong leader. She also never takes no as an answer and works well when collaborating with others. Ms. Almond’s banking career spans the states of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. She got involved in this profession when she accidentally bounced a check in college. She went to the bank and talked to the president, and then soon enrolled in a training program at the bank.

Cindy Piva

After 20 years of building, owning and operating her own golf course, Cindy Piva decided to sell it and start over. Ms. Piva prepared for her career by earning her bachelor’s degree in business and joining then the Professional Business Coaches Alliance. She then put work into building a network of 100 business coaches throughout North America. Her greatest strength lies in her ability to ask the right questions and allow people to see things in a positive manner. Ms. Piva’s hard work was recognized in 2013 by the western region Professional Business Coaches Alliances through the Coach of the Year award. Moving forward, she hopes to grow her business and move from one-on-one and group coaching to hosting webinars and seminars.
