When Lillia E. King entered the health care profession more than four decades ago, she was following in the footsteps of her late mother and several of her family members. Through hard work and passion, she became regarded as an expert in histopathology and administration. Although now retired, Ms. King spent a number of years with Schneider Regional Medical Center, an integrated health system created to provide comprehensive, quality care to residents and visitors to the Virgin Islands and the Caribbean. In her role as a supervisor, she managed four people, stipulated the required employee category, made equipment requests, maintained updates, documented reports, and evaluated personnel annually. Ms. King also worked to find the most cost-effective histopathology procedures, attended committee meetings regarding forms, policies and procedures, and handled the budgeting for her department.
