Growing up in Lima, Peru, Anna Tudela had a lot of exposure to the mining industry from a young age. She made the challenging choice to move to San Francisco, where she studied law and learned about the securities and exchange business, and then to Vancouver, where she continued her studies to learn the differences between U.S. law and Canadian law as related to securities and exchange. Ms. Tudela also completed studies in human resources and management
Following those experiences, which taught Ms. Tudela to be adaptable and resilient, she combined her knowledge of the field with her education in governance and corporate securities to thrive with Goldcorp Inc. The company is a leading gold producer focused on responsible mining practices with a safe, low-cost production. Their operating assets include four mines in Canada, three in Mexico, and four in Central and South America. In her role as the vice president of diversity and regulatory affairs, Ms. Tudela ensures that Goldcorp Inc. is in compliance with all securities filing requirements. As the corporate secretary, she provides the board with the proper advice and resources for discharging its fiduciary duty under corporate law.
One of Ms. Tudela’s greatest accomplishments was creating a program at Goldcorp Inc. called Creating Choices. Designed to nurture diversity within the company, the developing, training and mentoring platform has, thus far, helped more than 1200 women increase their success. In recognition for her success, Ms. Tudela was honored as the Peak Award Champion by the Association of Women in Finance in 2016, was ranked among the Top 100 Global Women in Mining in 2015, won the Peter Dey Governance Achievement Award in 2013, and was nominated for the Women in Distinction Award in 2012.
