Title: Writer, Author
Location: Brick, NJ United States
With almost 50 years of experience, Mary R. Pagano is an Italian-American author and writer. Inspired by the qualities, characteristics and experiences of her mother, Maria Elena Francesca Calabria, Ms. Pagano decided to tell her mother’s story of optimism and encouragement through her novella, “La Vita E’ Triste.” She has also written a number of poems that have been published in anthologies.
Born in the Newark, N.J., section referred to as “Little Italy,” Ms. Pagano began schooling only knowing how to speak Italian. She eventually moved on to graduate in the top 10 percent of her high school class, and worked as a paralegal. In addition to being a single mother, Ms. Pagano put her own dreams on hold for many years so she could care for her elderly Italian parents. Her perseverance, passion and desire to learn has led to her success, and pushed her to follow her dreams of becoming a writer.
Ms. Pagano is a member of the National Association of Professional Women, the Brick Chamber of Commerce, and the International Women’s Leadership Association. When she is not writing, she loves spending time with her children, cooking, good wine, and skydiving.
