Title: Ambulatory Nurse Lead
Company: Dartmouth Hitchcock
Location: Nashua, NH United States
A registered nurse for nearly 25 years, Carol Townsend has devoted the past 17 to Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Founded in 1893, Dartmouth-Hitchcock is a national leader in patient-centered health care; it is an academic medical center, a full-service children’s hospital, a level-one trauma center and a cancer institute.
Ms. Townsend prepared for this career by earning an associate degree in nursing, as well as a Bachelor of Science in nursing. She prides herself in her ability to listen; she is patient, compassionate and passionate about her work. Although she finds that it can be difficult to juggle all of her responsibilities, she is always working to ensure she remains calm and positive, and to empower her staff and instill in them a constant desire to learn.
The proudest moment of Ms. Townsend’s career was when she was able to open the Ambulatory Center at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic in Nashua in 2012. She would like to be remembered as a good listener, and a supportive and compassionate nurse. Moving forward, she would like to earn a master’s degree in leadership.
