Elizabeth Zerbst has been writing ever since she was a little girl, and she worked hard to fulfill her life-long dream of becoming a famous author. Her English teacher introduced her to poetry, and she hasn’t put down her pen since, writing poetry, children’s books and short stories. So far, Ms. Zerbst has published 13 books total, and she is working on three more. Her first few books were published with a small, local publisher, but in 2008, she decided to create her own publishing company, Elipzer Publishing. In addition to writing the stories, she also does the illustration for her children’s books.
One of the reasons Ms. Zerbst writes is because she wants to reach more children with her stories, and more people with her poems and books. The proudest moment of her career was when her first book, “Adirondack Forest Friends,” was added to the reading list by the Dolgeville School district. The school purchased enough copies for each first grade student and teacher to have their own.
Outside of her work as an author with her own publishing company, Ms. Zerbst reads to residents at a local retirement home. She is also a blood donor, and recently received her 14 gallon pin.
