Karen Johnston brings three decades of experience to her position as the president and CEO of Preferred Tank & Tower, Maintenance Division, Inc. The company, also known as PMD, is a woman-owned family business that offers customized and cost-effective solutions to its clients’ water and storage tank needs. In her role, Ms. Johnston is responsible handling all operations for the company, including team building, contract negotiation, sales management, new business development and public relations and marketing.

Ms. Johnston has held her current position for eight years now. She prepared for her career by attending the University of Evansville and the University of Southern Indiana. She attributes her success to her faith, determination and positivity, as well as her great team of employees and her never-give-up attitude. She has received a number of awards for her commitment to growing PMD and giving her clients the best solutions to their needs, including certification for Woman Business Enterprise from the National Women Business Owner’s Corporation. She is also a member of the National Fire Protection Association, the American Water Works Association, the Builders Association and the National Association of Professional Women.
