Inspired by her strong desire to succeed and maintain excellence in what she does, Barbara Brunt built a thriving career that combined her three passions: education, research, and nursing. Her professional journey started when she earned an associate of nursing from Lima Technical College, a bachelor’s degree in education from Bluffton College, a master’s degree in community health education from The Pennsylvania State University, and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Dundee. Ms. Brunt went on to join Summa Health System as the director of nursing research and professional development, where she stayed for more than a decade. She left in March 2016 to start her own educational consultancy, Brunt Consulting Services.

As a testament to her success, Ms. Brunt earned the Belinda Buetz Award for Excellence in Staff Development and Excellence in Research from the Ohio Nurses Association. She considers her greatest accomplishment, however, to be writing a book, “Competency for Staff Education.” Looking to the future, Ms. Brunt intends to continue to write and to help people develop more opportunities to further their education. She hopes to be remembered for her service to others.
