Title: Corporate Accounting Manager
Company: Coach USA Inc.
Location: Wayne, NJ United States
Although Elena Berezhnaya has a master’s degree in engineering from Ukrainian Polytechnic Institute, when she came to the United States, she found that she would need to start over. She fell into accounting and quickly realized how much she loved it. She earned a master’s degree in accounting at Fairleigh-Dickinson University and obtained her CPA certification. She has been the corporate accounting manager with increasing levels of responsibility for the transportation company Coach USA, Inc. for more than a decade now.
As a woman in today’s world, Ms. Berezhnaya attributes her success to her drive. She immigrated to the United States, had to learn a new language and adapt to a new culture. She started at the very bottom, and because of her focus on hard work and her willingness to go the extra mile, she was able to grow and quickly advance in her career. She has been working in her field for nearly 20 years and knows what it’s like to have no one to turn to for advice. She hopes to be able to help other women succeed in the field by providing support and mentorship, and inspiring them to work hard.
Ms. Berezhnaya believes strongly in continued education. She constantly takes accounting and finance courses to stay on top of new developments and regulations. She also plans on earning her treasury certification in the near future. She would also like to expand her personal and professional network, providing mentorship and collaborating with others in the field. She wants to be remembered for her drive and her passion for working toward her goals. Aside from her determination to succeed, she believes her greatest strengths lie in her education and experience, as well as her ability to think on the fly and solve problems.
Outside of her work, Ms. Berezhnaya is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, a member of the International Women’s Leadership Association, and the treasurer of her son’s booster club. When she is not working, she enjoys traveling, entertaining, gardening, reading and attending her son’s hockey games.
