Title: Vice President of Nursing
Company: Winthrop University Hospital
Location: Mineola, NY United States
A registered professional nurse with more than 30 years of progressive leadership experience, Eileen Magri loves her career. She began working as a pediatric nurse at Nassau Medical Center, and when Winthrop Hospital took Nassau Medical Center over, she officially began her career with Winthrop, where she has been ever since. She has held a variety leadership of positions, including assistant nurse manager, director of nursing, and her current position, vice president of nursing, during her time there.
To prepare for her professional endeavors, Dr. Magri earned a Ph.D. in nursing. She attributes her many years of success to her organizational skills and her ability to identify the humanness in people. Dr. Magri also prides herself in being able to take a step back from problems and look at them through eyes of empathy and compassion so that she can determine the proper solution. Her vast education and experience has made her the perfect mentor for graduate nursing students. She wants to ensure that every nursing student she helps goes forward in their careers with a passion and excellence for their calling.
Dr. Magri is inspired by her father, who was always encouraging her to be successful and whatever she was passionate about. She would like to be remembered as someone who provided guidance and influence to all those in both her personal and professional life. She hopes that the many nurses she has mentored will remember her and say that she helped them become a better nurse for their patients.
Outside of her career, Dr. Magri’s greatest accomplishments are her three daughters, who are all following their dreams and passions in the hopes of finding success. Dr. Magri never likes to be bored, so she is constantly looking for new challenges. She is on the board of Our Lady of Mercy and also works on the strategic planning community. Further, Dr. Magri is an honored member of The International Women’s Leadership Association. Her family is her number one priority, and when she is not working she is spending time with her children and her grandson.
