With more than 30 years of experience within the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, Cynthia Barcelon-Yang is currently working as the director of the patent analysis group for Bristol-Myers Squibb. She is constantly being inspired by the love she has for her work and field. She is always looking for a challenge, and the opportunity to try new things and provide better service. She wants to be remembered as one of the motivators for both the patent and the scientific analytics.

To prepare for her professional endeavors, Ms. Barcelon-Yang received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and two master’s degrees in physical-organic chemistry and information and library science. After completing graduate school, she began a career in the pharmaceutical industry as a bench chemist, and then moved to focus on patent information.

Ms. Barcelon-Yang is a member of the American Chemical Society and the American Users Group. She is also the treasurer of the Filipino American Association of Central New Jersey and has chaired the International Patent Information Group. She also volunteers at the Trenton soup kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, and St. Ann Catholic Church. When she is not working, she can be found spending time with her family, shopping, gardening, cooking, reading and playing the piano.
