Sixteen years ago, Aurora Roque began a career with the computer software company, Oracle Caribbean, and fell in love with the industry. During her time with the company, she has gone from her initial position as an administrative assistant to public relations to marketing to her current position in customer care. In her role as a customer program specialist, she deals directly with customers located in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and the English Caribbean.
Ms. Roque prepared for her career path by receiving a bachelor’s degree in communications, and an MBA in project management. She hopes to soon earn a Ph.D. in protocol and manners in corporate meetings as well. Ms. Roque found success in an industry that is almost completely male-dominated through her ability to work with and relate to people. She is able to instill a sense of trust and comfort with people almost immediately after meeting them. Her greatest achievement has been saving a contract that Oracle had with the government in the Cayman Islands.
When she is not working, Ms. Roque can be found reading, writing, going to the beach, fine dining and listening to music. She also supports the efforts of her local Buddhist Center.
