Inspired by the knowledge that her work positively impacts the health of others, Barbara Gould is thriving in her career with Exiqon. The biotechnology company is split into two factions, life sciences and diagnostics, and operates with the goal of pursuing new scientific discoveries, particularly with RNA. Dr. Gould was recently promoted to the role of senior scientific field applications and technical support manager, which allows her to utilize her strength in communicating scientific information in way that others will understand. Her ability to teach and train people has also been an asset.

The biggest challenge Dr. Gould faced was learning how to stick up for herself as a woman in her male-dominated field. She did just that, however, and attributes her success to her passion, her role models, and the other people who paved the way for women in the workforce. If she could offer some advice to the younger generations, it would be to appreciate the knowledge of their peers and work together to grow.

When Dr. Gould isn’t working, she enjoys reading, watching movies, traveling, and playing squash. She is also an honored member of The International Women’s Leadership Association.
