Following the work ethic she learned from her parents and the inspiration she receives from strong, successful women, Wanda Fischer has more than three decades of experience in broadcast, public relations, marketing, media relations and public speaking. When she was 59 years old, she lost her job, but managed to find a new job with New York State as a public information officer where she didn’t face any salary discrimination based on her age or gender. She spent 8 wonderful years in this position before she retired.

In addition to her expertise in marketing, public relations and writing, Ms. Fischer is also skilled at voiceovers and singing. She is a host of “The Hudson River Sampler” on WAMC on Saturday nights, which features traditional and contemporary folk, blues and bluegrass music. Ms. Fischer has also sings at weddings and has recorded a CD and written a novel, which is in the process of being edited. She is affiliated with a variety of associations, including the Folk Alliance and Northeast Regional Folk Alliance, Public Relations Society of America and is on the board of directors for Caffe Lena. Outside of her work, she enjoys baseball, playing tennis, and spending time with her grandchildren.
