After a personal tragedy, Clivetty Martinez decided to pursue a career in health care. She proceeded to earn a doctorate in international health care studies from Touro University and a master’s degree in occupational therapy from Duquesne University. She also has a health care compliance certificate and a certificate in leadership in compliance, in addition to being a licensed occupational therapist.

Dr. Martinez brings more than 20 years of global compliance experience in health care and pharmaceuticals to her position with the global health care supplier, manufacturer and distributor, Perrigo. As the vice president of global compliance and the chief privacy officer, she is responsible for overseeing the daily compliance program’s activities. She must also drive awareness of Perrigo’s code of conduct and core values, identify areas of compliance risk and guide the efforts of the compliance teams at Perrigo locations worldwide.

With her many years of experience, Dr. Martinez identifies her greatest strength as her communication skills. She is able to work with a variety of people from different countries and cultures. Looking forward, Dr. Martinez hopes to continue to inspire others to learn about the field of ethics and compliance.  She is always looking for new challenges and opportunities to mentor other women in their professional career.

Dr. Martinez’s hard work and commitment has been recognized with a number of awards, including an award for outstanding leadership from the International Women’s Leadership Association and a certificate from the University of Miami’s School of Business Administration for her contributions to the development of their certification in the Latin American Health Care Compliance Program. She is also a member of the American College of Health Care Executives, the Occupational Therapy Association and the American Business Women Association.
