Following a lifelong passion, Yvette Mayhorn-Harps decided to pursue a career in education. She started out by earning a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies, and then earned a master’s degree in educational administration and a doctorate in institutional management. Now, using the knowledge she acquired academically and throughout her career, which has spanned more than three decades, Dr. Mayhorn-Harps is currently serving as a transformation administrator within the Lynwood Unified School District. This position allows her to employ her greatest strength, which is helping people grow into their potential.
As a testament to her success, Dr. Mayhorn-Harps was nominated for the National Blue Ribbon, and is an honored member of The International Women’s Leadership Association. She intends to continue on her current path moving forward, and eventually reach the role of superintendent. To stay on top of changes in her field, Dr. Mayhorn-Harps maintains affiliation with the National Association of Elementary Principals, the Association of California School Administrators, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. She attributes her achievements to her determination, networking and studies.
