Candice Carter-Oliver comes from a long line of strong women in education, from her mother to her aunt to her grandmother. As a committed educational leader with a record of success in leading schools to academic excellence, she continues to follow in their footsteps. Dr. Carter-Oliver currently serves as the assistant superintendent of the Normandy Schools Collaborative, where her responsibilities relate to improving curricular career pathways and college-level course offerings, increasing achievement, and fostering positive relationships within the school and the community. She has certainly lived up to expectations, and some of her accomplishments include increasing the advanced placement and honors course offerings for high school 7th to 12th graders by 50 percent in one year, and increasing the annual performance report from 7 percent to 30 percent in one year, constituting the highest number of points earned in the last three years, as per the Missouri School Improvement Program Cycle 5.
To prepare for her illustrious career, Dr. Carter-Oliver earned a Ph.D. in metropolitan leadership and policy studies in 2014, an Ed.S. in educational administration in 2007, and a Master of Education in educational administration in 2004, all from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 2002. As a woman in today’s world, Dr. Carter-Oliver attributes her success to being a lifelong learner and having great mentors.
