Company: 1) Volunteer Exercise Physiologist 2) Volunteer Exercise Physiologist

Location: Watertown, S.D.

Out of 53 years of expert services to the health and wellness arena, Sister Iverson finds that her greatest career achievement was obtaining approval from the directors to invite a fellow high school girl with muscular dystrophy and cerebral palsy to participate in after-school sports activities. She attributes her success to her family upbringing, religious and ethical values, and personal and societal tools needed to leave home. Initially, she became involved in her profession because of the influence of her grandmother, whose dedication to service and faith she observed as a very young child. Sister Iverson’s ability to utilize her educational skills in the business management field separates her from her peers.

Sister Iverson has published a research article on physiology, cardiac rehabilitation education, glucose intolerance, lipid profiles and exercise. She also developed and implemented a cardiac outpatient rehabilitation program at the Brookings Hospital. She has also given many presentations in the areas of cardiac rehab, wellness and nutrition. She celebrated her Golden Jubilee as a Benedictine Sister in 2011. Sister Janice volunteers as specialist in exercise therapy and exercise physiology, especially for the elderly. In fact, she volunteers her services to Benet Place Independent Living, and Benet Place Assisted Living. In five years, Sister Iverson intends to be living at Mother of God Monastery, and still riding her bike to her volunteer service at the police department.
