Upon splitting up with her husband, Ms. Horton decided to focus on an area that would help her clients during hard times, and thus Bridgeport Restoration Services, Inc. was born. She has served as the company’s president for the past 30 years now, and over time, it has grown to become a full-service carpet and upholstery cleaning company with an emergency response division. Her business also provides fire restoration, water mitigation, mold remediation, smoke odor elimination, duct cleaning, and other related services.

Currently, as an adjunct professor, she teaches higher education sources in linguistics to English speakers of other languages, and mentors doctoral dissertations.
