Driven by her interest in insurance, Allison McKiernan has amassed almost four decades of experience in her field. She is the Director of New Business Development of New England and Western New York for Nationwide Insurance, where she leads a sales/underwriting team. She specializes in property and casualty lines, including property, liability, and auto and workers compensation.

Initially, Ms. McKiernan started in the insurance business in high school, when she held a part-time job with Transamerica Insurance. Realizing she really enjoyed the industry, she decided to make it her career. Ms. McKiernan proceeded to pursue her goals at the Institute of Professional Insurance Agents Association and the University of Connecticut. She received her AU, CIC, AAI and CPCU certifications, and is currently working toward earning certification as a risk manager.

Ms. McKiernan is a member and the past president of the Connecticut Marketing Association. She also participates with CIMA, Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America, Inc., and the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents. Looking to the future, she hopes to make the insurance industry more appealing as a career for younger generations.
