An evaluation and qualitative research specialist, Shannon Cunningham is currently serving as the Senior Health Research Evaluator for Alberta Innovates. The company is a provincially-funded and board-governed corporation tasked with delivering on the research and innovation priorities of the Government of Alberta.
Dr. Cunningham prepared for her career by earning a Master’s degree in applied social psychology and a Ph.D. in Applied Social Psychology. She also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in which she evaluated key communication elements of a provincial program. Dr. Cunningham now specializes in the use of qualitative techniques to evaluate health processes, practices, procedures, products and research to determine impact and social return on investment. Her areas of interest lie in women’s health and safety, the care of older adults, and health care communication practices.
Looking forward, Dr. Cunningham wants to be remembered as someone who cared for others and desired to make a positive difference in others’ lives. She is a member of the Canadian Evaluation Society, and supports the efforts of the British Columbia Service Dogs Association, Hope Mission, The Mustard Seed, and Dachshund Rescue.
