Title: Director of Environmental Services
Company: Cowra Council
Location: Cowra, NSW Australia
The Cowra Council is a local and regional governmental organization that provides a variety of community services, including building and planning, development applications, natural resources, companion animals, food safety and public health, ranger services, and compliance in New South Wales. In her role as the director of environmental services, Kate Alberry is responsible for managing building operations, planning environmental health services, writing documents for the planning department, and overseeing day-to-day business operations.
As a woman in today’s world, Ms. Alberry attributes her success to having found her niche profession. She is constantly educating herself in the field, as is demonstrated through her graduate diplomas in building surveying and regional and urban planning, as well as her current pursuit of an MBA. Ms. Alberry became involved in this career path when she worked for an engineer in the Northern Territory. That engineer talked her into studying town planning, thinking it would be a great profession for her, and he was right.
Ms. Alberry is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and supports Starlight Children’s Foundation and Doctors Without Borders. She hopes to soon sit on a board of directors for town planning, and progress to a higher profile position to help facilitate growth and development in Cowra.
