Karen Lindebrekke is the current director of programs for the EDUCATE Center of the iBIO Institute. The company specializes in creating business leadership by delivering industry-led, world-class science and math programs for teachers and students. Ms. Lindebrekke chose this career path because of her desire to be an educator and a teacher. She taught at the high school and college levels before moving into professional development.
To prepare for her career, Ms. Lindebrekke received a Master of Science in curriculum and instruction, with a concentration in science and mathematics, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in zoology, with an emphasis in ecology. Her education, in addition to her decade of experience, has made her an expert in science, technology, engineering and mathematics education, as well as problem-based learning.
As a woman in today’s world, Ms. Lindebrekke attributes her success to her passion, perseverance, curiosity and collaborative skills. She has been the recipient of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s Strategic Achievement Award, and a Presidential Award from Robert Morris University. In addition to her position with the iBIO Institute, Ms. Lindebrekke is a member of the Illinois Science Teachers Association, NSTA and AAUW.
