A natural progression of opportunities led Katrina Darcey to her current position as an account executive of Terrebonne Insurance Agency. She got her start in insurance 30 years ago, after a friend, who was retiring, asked if she would like a new career. Ms. Darcey went to the interview, was hired on the spot, loved it, and has been there ever since. She is particularly proud of climbing the ladder from a secretarial position to her current executive role, as it demonstrates the growth and progress she has experienced over the years.
The greatest challenge Ms. Darcey faces is male agents who claim that women do not have the expertise needed to run a business. She is happy to prove them wrong, however, and has succeeded with the help of her strength in marketing strategies. Further, Ms. Darcey never takes “no” for an answer when she is looking out for the company, and is a strong and independent person.
When Ms. Darcey isn’t working, she enjoys hunting and fishing. She also supports the charitable missions of Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society, and the American Diabetes Association. Additionally, she is an honored member of The International Women’s Leadership Association.
