Although Sandra Cochran did not plan on having a career in health care, she decided to stay after she began volunteering at a hospital and realized how much she enjoyed it. She prepared for this new endeavor by becoming a certified registered nurse, in addition to holding a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in management. Before she retired, she served as the registered nurse case manager for the County of Riverside, but she still plans on staying involved in the field as a mentor and educator.

Ms. Cochran hopes to be remembered for being fair and compassionate. She is very proud that she was able to become a registered nurse and of her constant commitment to her family. She helped her daughter through a divorce and helps care for her grandchildren. Her children are her inspiration.

Now that Ms. Cochran is enjoying retirement, she has plenty of time to read, travel and spend time with her family. She also supports the efforts of Relay for Life, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Wounded Warriors, and maintains affiliation with the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology, Fraternal.org, Eastern Star, and Shriner Children’s Hospital.
