Irma Ruth Williams, MD, DABA

Williams, IrmaTitle: Anesthesiologist
Location: Asheville, NC United States

Inspired by her brother, who has Cerebral Palsy and taught her to always move forward, Irma Williams followed her interest in medicine and interventional pain management to a career in anesthesiology. Her understanding nature and strong listening ability, coupled with her dedication to her patients, made her the perfect candidate for the job. Dr. Williams has served as an anesthesiologist for more than a decade now, and moving forward, she intends to practice and expand on holistic medicine and spend more time with patients.

To prepare for her career, Dr. Williams earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 1969, a Bachelor of Medical Science from Emory University in 1974, and a Doctor of Medicine from Medical University of South Carolina in 1988. She also completed a residency in anesthesiology from the University of Kentucky in 1995. Dr. Williams remains connected to others in her field through her memberships with the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Association of Interventional Pain Physicians, and The International Women’s Leadership Association. When she isn’t working, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and tennis. Dr. Williams also gives back to others through missionary work. She hopes to be remembered as a caring person.
