Well-known for her excellence in her field, Silvia Pavoni currently serves as a project manager for the Italian multinational oil and gas company, ENI S.p.A. The company is headquartered in Rome, but has operations in nearly 80 countries and is currently the world’s 11th largest industrial company. In her current position, she is responsible for research and development with crude oil quality studies. She is also an expert in petroleum, oil and gas and chemical engineering.

Dr. Pavoni’s father was a chemist and her mother was a biologist, so she was introduced to the profession from an early age. She herself has a Ph.D. in chemistry, but despite her qualifications and background, she has found that being a woman in a male-dominated industry can be very difficult. Dr. Pavoni would love to see more women in her field, and advises women going into similar male-dominated industries to be strong and stick to one’s principles. When she finds herself struggling in her field because of her gender, she finds the inspiration to thrive as a woman in a man’s world in Nobel Prize Winner M. Montalcini.

Over the years, Dr. Pavoni has created relationships with many different people within her industry, which has allowed her to share knowledge and grow professionally. Many people consider her a reference and consultant internationally, as well. Despite her continued success, she simply wants to be remembered for being true to herself.
