For the past 27 years, Helena Ventrella has served as the chief executive officer and creative director for her own interior design business, Helena Ventrella Designs Limited. She is responsible for managing a team of six employees, each with a vast range of talents. Further, she is in charge of handling all design concepts, developing the business, supervising quality control and training initiatives and negotiating contracts.
In addition to her interior design firm, Ms. Ventrella is also the CEO of InnerSeasonings International Inc., previously known as the Tunnel Bar-B-Q (TBQ) brand. TBQ was family-owned for more than 70 years. In March 2008, Ms. Ventrella took over and launched a brand redesign on the menus, products and advertising. Besides overseeing her team, she is responsible for developing and advancing the spice and sauce blend quality ingredients and manufacturing processing. She also established a custom-designed automated bottling line to continue to manufacture the TBQ sauces and spices. This recently won the Retail Council of Canada’s Grand Prix Award for best new product of 2015 for the condiments division.
To prepare for her career path, Ms. Ventrella received a Bachelor of Arts in interior and clothing design from the University of Windsor. She also holds certification in interior design and the FSSCC 22000 Food Safety Audit. Ms. Ventrella is currently pursing Kosher and Halal certifications as well. When asked about her plans for the future, she hopes to continue to grow her independence and have both Helena Ventrella Designs and InnerSeasonings International to grow and continue business on an even bigger international platform.
Ms. Ventrella attributes her success to her passion, hard work and drive, as well as her ability to maintain good client relationships. Due to her background in interior design, opening her own interior design company seemed a perfect fit. Additionally, she was also born and raised in the restaurant business, so taking over and redesigning TBQ was also another natural career choice. Ms. Ventrella is a member of ASIS, ARIDO, IDC, NCIDQ, LSSC and WDA. When she is not working, she can be found enjoying traveling, skiing and water sports.
