Jaclyn Smith’s career with Federal Express Canada Ltd. is coming up on almost 30 years. She received a Bachelor of Arts in communication from McGill University, and, upon graduation, was hired by the company to work in the call center. Ms. Smith’s hard work has allowed her to move up through the ranks to her current position as the worldwide account manager for airfreight, where she is responsible for overseeing daily business operations and traveling across Canada for business. Her dedication to her work won her the Five-Star Award from the Ambassadors’ President’s Club.

Ms. Smith transitioned to the airfreight side of the business in 2001, when she was named the airfreight account executive. That experience, coupled with her seven years in her current position, has made her an expert in airline cargo, 3PL and the freight forwarder market. Being a woman in the field has been difficult at times, but her knowledge and experience, as well as her flexibility, have allowed her to thrive. In fact, her greatest professional accomplishment has been her longevity in such a male-dominated field. She is also very proud that she was able to attain such success while still maintaining her integrity.

Looking to her professional future, Ms. Smith hopes to obtain a place in upper management or work as a consultant for customers in training. She would also like to learn about what integrated markets have to offer. In addition, she would also like to continue mentoring young women that are entering into the business.

On a daily basis, Ms. Smith finds inspiration in helping, seeing and doing the right things that add value to her life and others’ lives. When she is not working, she can be found outside, as that is where she is happiest. Always trying to live a healthy lifestyle, she is a triathlete, a skier and volunteers with the Ironman Triathlon.
