A veteran of the industry, Yolanda Cruz worked for VIA Metropolitan Transit for nearly 40 years. She started early in her career with an entry-level position and worked her way up through the ranks, guided by her dedication and desire to do well. Ms. Cruz eventually moved to human resources and became the vice president. She always enjoyed helping and connecting with people, and when she saw the need to help members with insurance, she worked with the carrier and learned how to solve the members’ problems. In fact, her department was the first to become self-insured.

Ms. Cruz’s greatest strengths are her tenacity, her desire to help people and her knowledge of her industry. She wants to be remembered for her ability to help people, and that is why, even though she is retired, she still wants to work with people to make them aware of their benefits and connections. Additionally, Ms. Cruz volunteers with her local church, the local PTA and the VIA Metropolitan Group Luncheon.
