Sandra Allerheiligen is the vice president of modeling and simulation at the pharmaceutical company Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp. An expert in pharmacokinetics and dynamics, she is responsible for studying drugs that are absorbed by the body and how they work, as well as researching the design and application of mathematical methods to enable quantitative decisions for nonclinical and clinical development. She is also in charge of monitoring the drug testing and getting doses for the volunteers.

Dr. Allerheiligen has a total of 26 years of experience in pharmaceuticals and research. Prior to joining Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp, she worked in a variety of roles, including distinguished research fellow and chief scientific officer for quantitative pharmacology and senior director of drug disposition of ADME and Global PK/PD for Eli Lilly and Company. She has also worked in educational instructor roles for institutions like the Indiana University Medical School, Leiden University in the Netherlands, Purdue University College of Pharmacy, University of Cincinnati and University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Allerheiligen attributes her many years of success to her passion for developing new drugs. She has been recognized with a number of awards, including three-time recipient of the Lilly Research Laboratories Quality Advocate Award, Outstanding Young Women of America and the University of Texas at Austin’s Professional Development Award. She has also been named a fellow of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Texas Health Science Center. Additionally, she also publishes papers and gives presentations on her areas of expertise.

In order to stay up to date with the constant advances in her field, Dr. Allerheiligen is a member of multiple research and pharmaceutical organizations and associations. She is also a supporter of her local church, and enjoys traveling in her free time.
