Tenacious and focused, Soraya Jane Kanakis has thrived in the world of academia. She currently holds a Doctor of Pharmacy from Washington State University, a Master of Health Administration from the University of Washington, and a Master of Science in pharmacy regulatory policy from the University of Florida, and is in pursuit of a degree in clinical translational sciences and pharmacoepidemiology at the University of Florida. Dr. Kanakis feels the specialized program she is engaged in is the perfect way to combine her unique skill sets and experiences. She is very proud of her achievements, both academically and in her research.

Dr. Kanakis feels that her greatest achievements, however, are her two sons, who are grown and successful in their own endeavors. She believes that her drive and perseverance contributed to her accomplishments, and would advise the younger generations to shadow someone in their field. When Dr. Kanakis isn’t working, she enjoys the beach, mountain trail hiking, and spending time with her corgis, Cello and Vitto. She is also an honored member of The International Women’s Leadership Association.
