A feminist who believes in the importance of addressing violence, Amy Culp decided to join the Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention Program (SHARPP) at her alma mater, the University of New Hampshire, in 2002. She started out as the direct services coordinator, and was recently promoted to be the director of the program. Her goal, and the goal of SHARPP, is to provide women and victims of sexual abuse with a safe haven, where they can be heard, understood, and helped.
Ms. Culp believes that having strong colleagues, both male and female, has contributed to her success, as she has been able to learn from their experiences. She also believes her leadership abilities and integrity played an important role in her journey. Looking to the future, Ms. Culp intends to grow the organization and make it national. She hopes to be remembered as a solid leader and a well-rounded human. In recognition of her accomplishments in this endeavor thus far, Ms. Culp has been included among the prestigious roster of The International Women’s Leadership Association.
