Driven by her desire to make an impact on the community, Shanee Major-Kelly decided to pursue a career in law. She went on to obtain a JD from Howard University in 1998, and accumulated experience leading to a career in family law and estate planning, financial planning, and consulting. Ms. Major-Kelly used her skills to open Major & Associates, where she took pride in fulfilling her life’s purpose of helping others. She also shares her knowledge through her full-time position as a professor at Strayer University, and serves as a member of the Maryland Bar Association and the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association. As a testament to her success, Ms. Major-Kelly received a prestigious award from the governor for her work with foreclosures in 2013.

Prior to her current endeavors, Ms. Major-Kelly worked in foster care with neglected and troubled youth, where she developed a passion for mentoring teens between the ages of 16 and 24. She considers her greatest strength to be her compassion and positivity, and lives her life with no regrets. Looking to the future, Ms. Major-Kelly intends to complete the master’s degree in business administration she is pursuing at Strayer University. Balancing a family, career, and education is a challenge, but she is inspired to keep going by her children, parents, and faith. Ms. Major-Kelly hopes to be remembered as a compassionate, caring leader who made positive changes.
