Recognized by her peers for her excellence in healthcare information technology, Carol L. Ater has spent the past two decades developing her expertise in the field. She is currently utilizing her talents at Adena Health System, which provides leading-edge services in cardiology, cancer, women’s health, children’s health, and orthopaedics. Ms. Ater joined the company in 2006 as a systems analyst, and was promoted to project manager, her current position, in 2010. She is particularly proud of updating the entire medical record system, which was completed on time with a great team behind her.
As a testament to her success, Ms. Ater served as the state president for the Ohio Federation of Professional Women for two years, and earned the Business Professional Women Distinguished Member Award in 2014. She attributes these achievements to meeting other women in her field and listening to their advice. Ms. Ater also has strong organizational skills, and is able to see the bigger picture. Looking ahead, she intends to further her career and become a better project manager.
To prepare for her professional journey, Ms. Ater earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science. She hopes to earn a certification and obtain a master’s degree someday in the future. Ms. Ater loves being able to help patients from an IT aspect, and hopes to be remembered as a leader who walked beside her team and was a mentor to others. She is currently a member of The International Women’s Leadership Association, and supports the missions of the Red Cross, the Arthritis Foundation, and the Epilepsy Foundation. When Ms. Ater isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her family and horses.
