Guided by her love for interacting with people, Monique Dennison began her career in hospitality in Guyana and continued once she came to Canada. She has been with the Sheraton Parkway Hotel and the adjacent Best Western Hotel for nearly two decades now, and really enjoys serving as the director of sales. In that role, Ms. Dennison is responsible for marketing, running a team of sales managers and coordinators, and overseeing corporate complaints and sales calls within the team, as well as revenue and daily reports. The highlight of her career was working toward her goals and becoming a director.

As a woman in today’s world, Ms. Dennison attributes her success to her great people skills, as well as her love of mentoring others. She channels that love into the classes she teaches at Seneca College, where she empowers her students and helps them thrive in the hospitality world. Although Ms. Dennison considers her son to be her greatest accomplishment, she is professionally happiest when she knows she has helped others on any level. She is particularly proud when she can see the growth in those she’s had the privilege of training.

To prepare for her career, Ms. Dennison earned a Bachelor of Arts in hospitality. She intends to do more teaching on a collegiate level moving forward, and would also like to spend more time volunteering. Ms. Dennison currently volunteers for nursing homes, food drives, heart and stroke charities, and breast cancer charities. She enjoys going to the theater whenever possible, and is a member of The International Women’s Leadership Association.
