With an impeccable work ethic and a lifelong commitment to community service, Jennifer E. McGann has spent the past seven years garnering expertise in medical coding, electronic medical records, and health care management. She currently utilizes those skills in her role with The William W. Backus Hospital, where she is dedicated and determined to make a difference in the lives of others for free while also obtaining clinical hours and gaining support from industry mentors.
During her time with the health care facility, Ms. McGann ensures quality control of scanned medical record-related images for documentation requirements, legibility and proper filing, and assists with databases and spreadsheets. She is also responsible for reviewing physician orders, referring to registration information to ensure the correct code was used for insurance purposes, completing coding for clinical level laboratory diagnoses, and updating selected projects and employee production.
Ms. McGann’s greatest career achievement occurred when she was serving in a three-month temporary position and it was extended to seven months because of her outstanding work. She is very proud of graduating from Ridley-Lowell Business and Technical Institute and passing the CPC exam as well. As a testament to her success and commitment to her industry, Ms. McGann was honored with the Gold Bar Award for 3,000 cumulative volunteer hours, the Silver Bar Award for 500 cumulative volunteer hours, and a gold pin for 100 cumulative hours, all from The William W. Backus Hospital. Looking forward, she hopes to experience continued professional and personal growth, including obtaining paid employment.
