Driven by her desire to give back, Shalanda L. Lee wanted to find a position that would allow her to make a positive impact on quality of life. That’s why she joined Baptist Medical Center South, which is known for its outstanding cardiovascular, orthopaedic, neurology, and surgical services. The hospital, fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, offers a sleep disorders center, a neonatal intensive care unit, a chest pain diagnosis and treatment center within the emergency department, a behavioral health treatment facility, and family-centered maternity care.
Ms. Lee is a motivated, high-energy individual with exemplary relationship building skills who is ethical, intuitive and compassionate. Her strengths lie in organizational and business development, as well as multitasking and creative thinking. Ms. Lee attributes her success to always striving to be the best at what she does. She is inspired on her journey by her mom, who comes from a family of 15, and her dad, who was a firefighter and served in the military.
In addition to her career as a supervisor with Baptist Medical Center South, Ms. Lee is an adjunct professor at Virginia College-Birmingham, where she teaches neonatal and pediatric respiratory therapy. She is dedicated to lifelong learning and to educational development initiatives. To prepare for her career, Ms. Lee earned a Master of Health Administration, and became a registered respiratory therapist and neonatal pediatric specialist.
When she isn’t working, Ms. Lee loves volunteering and making a difference in the community. She helps out at Floyd Elementary School, and provides educational tutoring, mentoring, and arts and crafts projects. Ms. Lee also decorates classroom doors and billboards, and serves as a chaperone for educational field trips. Additionally, she is involved with the American Lung Association, March of Dimes, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and The International Women’s Leadership Association.
