Driven by her desire to share her deep passion for music with each and every student, Kathryn B. Hull opened The Piano Studio of Kathryn B. Hull. There, she focuses on developing good technique and musicianship, and ensuring that students reach their highest potential. Ms. Hull believes that scales and chords are the basics of all music, so they are the foundation upon which she builds her teaching. She is especially proud of producing students who have accepted full scholarships at universities and conservatories.

The biggest challenge Ms. Hull has had to overcome is having enough students to teach. Unfortunately, when there is an economic downturn, the resources for the arts are cut first. The recent recession reduced almost 50 percent of her workload. Additionally, she has had to re-educate many of her students because they were taught by pianists who think they can teach as opposed to qualified piano teachers.

As an avid learner, Ms. Hull is enthusiastic about the learning and teaching process. She prepared for her career by studying music in college, and continuing to train as a pianist and teacher. Ms. Hull served as a music director and conductor for five stage musicals presented in Hollywood, and continues to compose music and write children’s books. She is currently a member of Music Teachers of the Desert, The Steinway Society of Riverside County, the California Association of Professional Music Teachers, the Music Teachers National Association, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, and The International Women’s Leadership Association. Looking forward, Ms. Hull intends to work with adult students at workshops.
