At 72 years old, Winifred Jackson is still going strong. She is currently the CEO of BKJ Services Inc., an online home business she established to provide office support. They offer document translation, transcription, proofreading, information about government programs, and personalized resumes, brochures, newsletters and fliers. Ms. Jackson is also involved with her son’s nonprofit organization, Cimbolica, which promotes fashion and education through the performing arts in the areas of fashion design, dance and modeling. The name of the organization is derived from the word symbolic, and represents the uniqueness of people and the talents they bring forth. Their goal is to provide scholarship assistance for company members to attend and remain in college or other institutes of higher learning.

Prior to her founding BKJ Services Inc., Ms. Jackson spent more than three decades in the federal government. She has experience dealing with the CIA, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Federal Emergency Management Administration, the Department of Commerce, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Ms. Jackson’s roles with the agencies include program analyst, program assistant, project administrator, scribe, manager, editorial secretary typist and data processor. While working for the government, she faced the challenge of dealing with agents who were predominately male, which meant that she had to work harder to prove herself.

Ms. Jackson considers her greatest accomplishment to by earning the On-The-Spot Award, which she received for her research work used to develop the Wall of Honor for the DEA. She also received a Seattle SAC Appreciation Letter, a Mentorship Certificate from Attorney General Thornburg, the Administrator’s Group Award from the DEA, the Presidential Award from President Jimmy Carter, and the White House Scribe Award. Looking forward, Ms. Jackson hopes to continue doing contract work with the state of Maryland and gain support for her son’s nonprofit organization.
