For the past five years, Carrie Decker has been an integral part of the IT team at Amtrol. The manufacturing company provides water system solutions for storage, treatment, heating, expansion, and flow control, along with a host of related HVAC products. As a business analyst, Ms. Decker is involved with the maintenance and daily routine of Amtrol’s ERP System. The functions associated with her job include business and system analysis, processing ERP changes and enhancements, developing an in-depth insight into the issues and data challenges within the company, and acting as a technical liaison between the IT department and the business customers. Ms. Decker attributes her success to the people she has met along the way, from her family members to her professional teams. She believes the sharing thoughts, open communication, and continual learning and improvement are key.
Ms. Decker prepared for her career through her education, research, and network. She is fascinated by technology and its ever-changing role, which keeps her motivated and constantly seeking new assignments and knowledge. Ms. Decker earned a Bachelor of Arts in art history and commercial art from The State University of New York at New Paltz, and a degree in museum studies and web design from Harvard University in 1999. She is also a member of AXUG, which helps her keep in constant communication with like-minded companies focused on operating their organizations using Microsoft Dynamics AX. When Ms. Decker isn’t working, she is following her passions for art and museums. She launched an art blog, Crazy Over Art, in 2013, and is a member of the New England Museum Association. Additionally, Ms. Decker is involved with The International Women’s Leadership Association. If she could offer some advice to the younger generation of women entering the workforce, she would tell them to be unique individuals who are also willing to listen and learn.
