Annia M. Diggs

Title: Research Associate
Company: John Hopkins University School of Medicine
Location: Abingdon, MD United States

After starting out as a lab technician working on animals and research, Annia M. Diggs decided to switch focuses. As a research associate at John Hopkins University School of Medicine, she is responsible for overseeing the production of cancer vaccines, QC testing, cells, QA review, and pancreatic, breast and prostate cancers. Ms. Diggs has succeeded in this endeavor despite having no prior experience working on humans or with environmental monitoring. She attributes this achievement to her versatility and ability to handle increasing responsibilities.

Over the course of her career, Ms. Diggs has developed and performed some of the QC release testing assays and experiments. She also wrote study reports for environmental monitoring and QC purposes. Ms. Diggs prepared to enter this profession by graduating from The Pennsylvania State University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in biology. Through her education and experiences, she has become an expert on PCR and anaerobic assays with spores.

In the next five years, Ms. Diggs plans to pursue a master’s degree in regulation, possibly at John Hopkins University. She also wants to move beyond academia and work for a pharmaceutical company. When Ms. Diggs isn’t working, she enjoys jazz music and singing the gospel at church.
