Megan Rodel is an energetic, motivated and dedicated individual with a passion for the mining industry. After serving in a variety of production-related roles, which helped her develop strong interpersonal skills and the ability to function well under pressure, she took a corporate role with De Beers Canada Mining, a diamond mining company. That role gave her the opportunity to be involved in technical projects and the business planning process, which has shown her the importance of striving for both technical and operational excellence. Ms. Rodel recently took on a permanent business improvement position with De Beers Canada Mining at the Snap Lake Mine. There, she and her team develop opportunities to increase throughput, improve operational efficiencies, reduce costs and implement initiatives.
Drawing on her enthusiasm for the work she does, Ms. Rodel enjoys experiencing different operating cultures and understanding a diverse array of mining methods, and attributes her success to her knowledge of the industry. Ms. Rodel’s family and faith are also key components. Additionally, she thrives on challenging situations and enjoys looking for alternate solutions to issues.
Prior to working with De Beers Canada Mining, Ms. Rodel gained cross-commodity exposure with their BLAST programme, from which she built a strong appreciation for the value of collaboration and innovation. In preparation for her career, she earned a Bachelor of Engineering in mining from the University of Pretoria in 2008. Ms. Rodel enjoys running marathons, adventuring outdoors and cooking when she isn’t working.
