Title: Chief Executive Officer, Founder
Company: BOSS Entertainment Group
Location: Atlanta, Ga.
Initially, Karen Baker began her career in music as a dancer, trained in ballet, dancing with the Pennsylvania Dance Company, and loved being on stage. She chose her current career path and founded BOSS Entertainment Group because of her love for the arts, being on stage, and working with so many other talented individuals who shared the same passions as her. Now, as chief executive officer, Ms. Baker uses her keen ear for quality and talent to scout out the next best thing.
Ms. Baker prepared for this career by furthering her education and earning a Bachelor of Arts in radio, television, and film production at Howard University. She has helped and worked with producer’s, songwriter’s and literary writer’s and recording artists through her company, and having expanded to the Atlanta, GA area has helped greatly improve and build her business. One aspect of the business Ms. Baker is working on changing is the indifferent treatment of women and artist from large companies. This has caused more artists to become independent, which has served her company well for having the ability to work with more artists not tied to long contracts.
The biggest challenge Ms. Baker has had to overcome is being taken seriously and proving herself as a leader in the industry. Currently, her professional goals include expanding her business into the New York market and bringing in new sounds. During her free-time, Ms. Baker supports the charitable missions of the March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, and the Lupus Foundation.
