Title: Senior Vice President, Chief Administration Officer
Company: Sterling Bank
Location: Poplar Bluff, MO
Brenda Brown’s professional goals have been fulfilled since 2003, when she was one of the individuals who formed a relationship to build the great community bank, Sterling Bank. Now, as senior vice president and chief executive officer, she helps the bank in all four full service locations; two in the St. Louis Metro Area (Clayton and Chesterfield), Poplar Bluff and Van Buren, MO, and continues to keep them ranked in the top percentile of financial institutions nationwide. Specifically, Ms. Brown’s professional goals are to be a leader and mentor young women in the financial and banking industry.
Having the ability to work within the community with low-income clients and provide them affordable housing programs, Ms. Brown’s greatest strength is her portfolio. In 2004, she and other experts in the banking industry formed Sterling Bank and I am proud to say we are in our tenth year. Sterling’s business model continues to center on expertise in affordable housing programs derived from the Tax Reform Act of 1986, which was made permanent in 1993. Sterling Bank is the bank for companies involved in the affordable housing industry and Sterling has the staff that understands all aspects of the industry. Ms. Brown chose this career because she always enjoyed helping people and after being in the industry for over twenty years, this was a very natural progression for me.
Prior to pursuing her professional dreams, Ms. Brown prepared for this career by completing numerous compliance trainings, workshops, schooling and ongoing education. Her greatest accomplishments to date personally are my four sons and professionally being in the position she is currently in at Sterling Bank. Her inspiration comes from within; she sets goals and when she achieves them, which she has, she continues to strive for more. During her free-time, Ms. Brown supports the First United Methodist Church and the Kiwanis Club, and enjoys crafting, reading and exercise.
