Wielding two decades of expertise in general operations administration, Laurie Johnson continues in her sixth year as administrative assistant to the director of Christian education at the Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. There, she works in the department of Christian education, assisting the director to create programs for special events and working as the coordinator in the bookstore and ordering publications, maintaining inventory and preparing deposits from sales. Ms. Johnson also edits the reports, maintains membership cards, and prepares a help guide each month.
The most gratifying aspect of Ms. Johnson’s career is that she thoroughly loves tackling a big challenge each day. Additionally, she is most proud of earning an MBA from Grand Canyon University, and is the first person in her family to get it. In the next five years, Ms. Johnson will be open to new opportunities. She would like to open her own business at some point. She would like to stay in business administration for new companies and small businesses that need a fresh eye to improve skills.
Ms. Johnson attributes her success to God. Her parents instilled in her to shoot for the moon and that it is okay if she doesn’t get it. Her family is very supportive of her and encourages her to do her best. Initially, Ms. Johnson became involved in her profession because she likes to write and is a people person. She has a good disposition when interacting with others.
