Company: Marist College

Location: Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Celebrating 36 years of experience in higher education, Carla Hill continues as a teaching associate in her eighth year at Marist College. There, she provides her expertise in statistics and information technology as an educational tool, and believes her success in the educational field stems from being open-minded and her enjoyment working with younger people. Initially, Ms. Hill became involved in her profession because of a natural progression of events and interest in information technology implementation in student curriculum.

Throughout her work-week, Ms. Hill utilizes and implements technology as methodology of enhanced value for development of educational tools for students. She also handles the creative development of curriculum for students in statistical mathematical courses, and conducts evaluation in all phases of usage of information technology in concurrent implementation for overall evaluation of quality assurance standards for meeting criteria. Ms. Hill’s hard work pays off, as she has earned the special services award for working with students with learning disabilities in 2005, 2008, and 2010.

Ms. Hill has done public speaking related to education. She has three grandchildren: Alexia, Charlie, and Becca. In August 2013, she started teaching a new liberal arts course. She is currently in pursuit of an Ed.D. in educational leadership through the University of Phoenix, having already required a Master of Arts in computer science from Union College. During her free-time, Ms. Hill volunteers at the St. John’s Lutheran Church and American Red Cross.
