From an early age, Margaret Garcia knew she wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a teacher. She loves kids, and feels that every child should have the opportunity to succeed. As a student advocate, Ms. Garcia felt her role was to be there to help kids fulfill their mission in life. She retired after 31 years to take care of her mother, and took a variety of substitute teaching positions before landing the job at Texas A&M University – San Antonio. Ms. Garcia’s role requires recruiting for the School of Education and Kinesiology and the graduate teacher certification program. She considers her greatest professional accomplishment to be having the opportunity to work in higher education.
