With more than three decades of experience behind her, Ms. Patterson decided to open her own practice, where she serves as a freelance accountant. In her role, she oversees accounting functions, such as financial reporting mechanisms, policies and processes, and examines financial records and transactions. Ms. Patterson is also responsible for ensuring that employees adhere to industry standards, corporate rules and regulatory requirements, and recommending improvements to accounting systems and management practices. Further, she develops and maintains cost finding and reports on internal control procedures.

In her role with her company, Ms. Lucas is responsible for overseeing operations, billing, and renting space to other trucking companies. A natural progression of opportunities led her to this position.

Ms. Lucas is separated from her peers by her excellent service. When people come into the yard to rent space, she is flexible with payments. If someone isn’t paying their rent on time over a long period of time, however, she will lien the space and it will become hers.
